Mrs. Susan de Menil
Byzantine Fresco Foundation
In her role as President of the Byzantine Fresco Foundation, Mrs. de Menil serves as both executive director and programmer of the Byzantine Fresco Chapel.
She is the co-editor of several books, including Angels and Franciscans: Innovative Architecture from Los Angeles and San Francisco and Sanctuary: The Spirit In/Of Architecture. In addition to service at the Byzantine Fresco Foundation, Mrs. deMenil is a designer with the firm of her husband François de Menil, Architect.
Current projects include an interpretative center for the Seneca Indian on a historic site outside of Rochester, NY, several residential and commercial commissions in the New York area. Mrs. deMenil is a board member of the Allen-Stevenson School, NY and member of the President's Counsel of the Cooper Union, New York City. She a past board member of the Smithsonian National Design Museum - Cooper Hewitt, and the Committee on Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art, NY.
Mrs. de Menil holds a B.A. in art history from Barnard College and a M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Urban Preservation. Mrs. deMenil is the mother of three children and the daughter in law of Dominique and John deMenil.
