Como hombres y mujeres de fe que creemos en Dios y en su misericordia, en esta hora triste para Chile, hacemos un ferviente llamado a la justicia y a la paz. Nos duelen los muertos y heridos que han dejado estas jornadas oscuras de nuestra historia. Nos duele que los principales afectados sean los más pobres.

La violencia que ha ocurrido es inaceptable y debe avergonzarnos como país. Pero no podemos soslayar que también gente de paz se ha manifestado haciendo un llamado de atención sobre las injusticias que claman una solución y un nuevo camino para Chile. Todos debemos hacer una autocrítica nacional para comprender que es lo que nos ha ocurrido como sociedad. Invitamos al gobierno, a los poderes del estado y a todos los actores políticos y sociales a sumarse a esta autocrítica.

Tenemos que trabajar unidos para que la razón prevalezca sobre el odio, para que el diálogo tenga oportunidad entre nosotros y para que trabajemos por una cultura del encuentro, que nos permita reconstruir la fraternidad y los valores que inspiran el alma de Chile.

Llamamos a los hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad a que abramos el corazón, a que trabajemos por la paz, a que botemos los muros que hoy nos cierran al diálogo y generemos puentes que nos permitan el encuentro.

Pedimos encarecidamente que cese toda violencia. Los invitamos a hacer un gran pacto social para dialogar, que nos permita buscar soluciones para construir un país más justo y solidario.

Invitamos a todos a la oración en común pidiendo a Dios que nos restablezca unidad y la paz. Nos comprometemos, como religiones y tradiciones de fe presentes en Chile, a trabajar por la fraternidad para la construcción de una sociedad justa donde toda persona sea respetada.

Que el Dios de la misericordia sea nuestra unión.

As men and women of faith who believe the mercy of the Sacred, in this sad hour for Chile, we make a fervent call for justice and peace. We are deeply saddened by the death and violence that has stained this moment of our history. We are saddened that those most affected are the poorest among us.

The violence that has occurred is unacceptable and shameful. However, we cannot ignore that peaceful people have also manifested their voices by calling attention to the injustices that demand a solution and a new path for Chile. We must all reflect and be self-critical in order to understand what has happened to our society. We invite the government, the powers of the state and all political and social actors to join this self-criticism.

We must work together so that reason prevails over hate and so that dialogue can manifest and allow us to work towards a culture where we can encounter each other and reconstruct the fraternity and values ​​that inspire the soul of Chile.

We call men and women of good will to open their hearts, to work for peace, to tear down the walls that shield us from dialogue and build bridges that allow us to encounter each other.

We strongly urge for a cessation of violence. We invite all people to commit to dialogue, which will allow us to find solutions to build a more fair and supportive country.

We invite everyone to join in prayer, asking God to restore unity and peace. We commit ourselves, as the religious communities and faith traditions of Chile, to work for fraternity and for the construction of a just society where everyone is respected.
