Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace, affirmed that the Human Fraternity Document is the gift of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and Pope Francis of the Vatican, to the world, praising the success achieved by the Supreme Committee for Human Fraternity in spreading the principles of the document and adopting the fourth February is International Day of Human Fraternity.
In a message on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, Karam said, I express my heartfelt congratulations to the Supreme Committee for Human Fraternity, especially Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Committee who worked with all effort, honesty and diligence to formulate the global document of human fraternity that serves all humanity.
The Secretary-General of Religions for Peace added that this document is a testament to love and faith in humanity, which was signed by two great leaders, His Holiness the Pope and the Eminence of the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, noting that Pope Francis and the Eminence of the Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyib, Sheikh of Al-Azhar presented a gift to humanity And that this gift not only represents the largest religious institutions in the world, namely the Vatican and Al-Azhar, but is in fact a gift to all human beings.
Karam explained that on this day we celebrate the gift that the United Nations General Assembly granted to the world that the fourth of February is the International Day of Human Fraternity, which comes as part of another gift already presented by the United Nations General Assembly, namely, the International Week of Interfaith Harmony. There is no better time than this, and there will never be a better moment than that for all of humanity.
Today, the world celebrates, for the first time, the International Day of Human Fraternity, after the United Nations General Assembly adopted the initiative of the Supreme Committee for Human Fraternity to approve the anniversary of the signing of the Human Fraternity Document as an International Day of Human Fraternity, an initiative that was adopted by the Emirates, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and was unanimously agreed by the member states of the United Nations.
