Women and girls already bear the brunt of the economic and social impact of crises, and COVID-19 is no exception. At the same time, the pandemic has revealed the critical role of women’s leadership, from the highest echelons of decision-making to serving on the frontlines. It is against this backdrop that the UN will convene the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which will focus on women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence.
