Master Ven. Yan Jue is from the Han ethnic group and was born in 1956. He has been a Buddhist monk since 1981. Since 2005, he has become the abbot of Guangji temple in Beijing.
In 2016, he was granted a doctor of Buddhism and Philosophy, honoris causa by Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University in Thailand.
Now, he is Vice President of CCRP and Executive Vice President of China Buddhist Association.
