Ligia Elena is from Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. She studied Business Administration, Accounting, and International Business. From a young age, she has been actively involved in the Catholic Youth Ministry, coordinating processes at the parish, diocesan, national, regional (Mexico–Central America), and Latin American levels. She is a member of the Expanded Committee on Women in the Church and Society of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM). Since 2018, she has been a member of the Latin American and Caribbean Youth Network of Religions for Peace. She is passionate about working with young people and firmly believes they play a fundamental role in building a “Civilization of Love,” fostering bridges that bring us closer together and allow us to walk side by side… accompanying them on this journey is a very important task, as Pope Francis said in the exhortation Christus Vivit: “to appreciate the little flame that continues to burn, the fragile reed that is shaken but not broken. The ability to discern pathways where others only see walls, to recognize potential where others see only peril… Each young person’s heart should thus be considered “holy ground”, a bearer of seeds of divine life, before which we must “take off our shoes” in order to draw near and enter more deeply into the Mystery.”
