Rev. Kosho Niwano is President-designate of Rissho Kosei-kai, a lay Buddhist movement. She studied at Rissho Kosei-kai’s Gakurin seminary and earned a master’s degree in interreligious dialogue and cooperation from Sophia University. Rev. Niwano is currently devoted to exploring the teachings of the Lotus Sutra through engagement and dialogue with others.
She actively engages in domestic and international interreligious dialogue and peace activities with various organizations. She currently serves as a Co-Moderator and Executive Committee Member of Religions for Peace International and a board of directors of Religions for Peace Japan. She is also a member of the board of directors of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) and an executive director of Shinshuren (Federation of New Religious Organisations of Japan).
She wrote several books, including The Buddha in Everyone’s Heart (Kosei Publishing Company, 2013).
