Prominent Supporter of Interfaith Dialogue and Coexistence

As Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, His Virtue Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh holds a special position in his country and internationally. He actively promotes dialogue and cooperation between Abrahamic and traditional religions through his leadership role in a number of international organizations.

He is the Secretary General of the Baku International Center for Inter-religions and Inter-civilizational Cooperation (BCIC), Co-Chairman of the Interfaith Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Member of the Muslim Council of Elders, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of KAICIID (King Abdullah International Center for Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue).

As Chairman of the Consultative Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the CIS and the Chair of Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples of the Caucasus, His Virtue also makes effective contributions to the promotion of interfaith understanding and tolerance.

A Devoted Defender of the Unity of the Schools of Thought and Education

His Virtue Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh demonstrates great dedication in promoting unity among various Islamic mazhabs – Schools of Thought. On his initiative, a collective Fatwa authority – the Council of Qadies has been established under the Caucasian Muslims` Board, reflecting Azerbaijan’s Sunni-Shia mix. This Council has the theologian authority on both Shia and Sunni mazhabs.

A Leading Scholar

Doctor of History and Professor of Theology, His Virtue Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, is a prominent scholar, and the author of numerous books and researches on theology. It should be noted that he is the first Azerbaijani historian to initiate research in the field of Islamic Studies.
