Events that have unfolded in the United States Capitol underline deep division within this nation. Divisions which are based on the systematic sowing of hatred and dissent from many sectors.

Religions for Peace decries any and all forms of violence. As it does so, Religions for Peace underlines the absolute necessity of reconciliation and healing in what is clearly a deeply divided society.

As the world’s oldest democracy, it behooves all believers of justice to stand in solidarity with a key democratic principle: the peaceful upholding of human rights and dignity of all people, at all times.

This is a nation that needs systematic healing. All faith leaders must stand together, not only on their own podiums and pulpits – which they already serve – but they must co-lead the healing processes of truth and reconciliation – together. The tipping point for peace is the collaboration in service between and among all faiths.
