An Online Course on Positive Peace

The Religions and Peace Academy

As part of a commitment made at the Religions for Peace 10th World Assembly, Religions for Peace and the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) have recently launched the Religions and Peace Academy Online Course.

This online course introduces the transformational framework — Positive Peace. The module rethinks peace with IEP’s data driven approach and uncovers how Positive Peace is associated with better performance on ecological sustainability, improved wellbeing, stronger GDP growth rates and better business outcomes.

Peace must be more than just the absence of violence. The Positive Peace framework is a “whole-of-society” approach — thus informing and enabling the leveraging of capacities and strengthens of diverse actors, including those engaged in and with multi religious collaboration.

The course is for anyone, irrespective of background, who is interested in peace or wants to become more involved in the peacebuilding process. The courses encourages a more in depth and comprehensive understanding of peace and its implications for humanity and also emphasizes the connection between religion and peace, and the ways in which interreligious cooperation provides a viable platform for promoting and maintaining peace.

Moreover, the Religions & Peace Academy provides us with an unparalleled opportunity to become acquainted with some key publications including the Global Peace Index, Positive Peace Report, Ecological Threat Register, Global Terrorism Index, or IEP’s research into the relationship between religion and peace.

The IEP and RfP are committed to continuing to organize regional capacitation webinars/workshops, including faith leaders, representatives from diverse IRCs, as well as multifaith women and youth networks, to apply the Positive Peace Framework to strengthen our shared strategic priorities, throughout 2021.

Religions for Peace and IEP invite RfP affiliated national and regional Interreligious Councils (IRCs), and interfaith women and youth leaders, to take this opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and practice of the Positive Peace framework, as a means of realising the mission of RfP enshrined in our strategic priorities: multi-religious collaboration in service.

Through the Religions and Peace Academy Online course, we have a unique opportunity to engage and to provide feedback on this new transformational framework of Positive Peace. Together, we can utilize this tool to continue our shared journey of collaboration to advance peace through multi-religious collaboration.
